How to manage the menu
1: Choosing your section
When you create a page, you will be asked to set up certain attributes for that page. These include
- Keywords (to help with search engines)
- Page type (such as a content page, a photo gallery, a news item etc)
- Section (i.e. what main section of the site do you want your page to be in)
You can create more sections (click Create Content and then Create a new section), but please be careful - if you have too many sections, or their names are too long, it may make your main menu bar look overcrowded or broken.
During the page creation process, you will see the Menu Manager. If you have Superuser or Publisher rights, you can also access the Menu Manager by clicking Edit Content and then Edit the menu.
2: Using the Menu Manager
The Menu Manager is a representation of the side-menu of the section you have selected. To see another section, use the pulldown list at the top of the Menu Manager (note the pulldown list does not appear when you are creating a page).
To move a page up or down the list, click the Move link once. You now "have hold of" the page. When you move your mouse up and down the Menu Manager, you'll see a red line. Click to drop your page where the red line appears. The page will be moved
You can also demote and promote pages. In other words, you can make a page become a "child" of another. This means the "child" won't appear in the menu until you are looking at its "parent". This function lets you present your pages in a heirarchy.
To demote a page, click the right arrow next to the page in the Menu Manager. You'll see the page move right, and the writing become slightly smaller
To promote it again, click the left arrow.
When you've finished making your changes, click the red button to continue (this button usually says Save changes, but under some circumstances may say Save changes and continue).
