How to create and edit a page
1: Setting up a page
To create a page, log into Treeline CMS and use the left side menu to select Create content.
Then click Create a page.
First you will need to set up certain attributes for the page. These include:
Title of the page, which is what will appear in the menu.
The section of the website in which the page will appear (see How to manage the menu) for more help on this.
The page type, and page layout. Please note that for demonstration purposes there are only a couple of page types available. More page types and template designs can be included if your website requires them.
Keywords to help your page be found by search engines. Please note that Google can take up to 6 weeks to find and list a new web page, so don't expect immediate results.
Then click Save and arrange in menu. See How to manage the menu for more help with this.
2: Using the editor
When you have finished using the Menu Manager, you will be presented with the page editor
This consists of a large blank area with a toolbar at the top. Many of these tools (such as Bold, Italic and Underline) will be familiar if you have used Microsoft Word or a similar package
Type your content into the blank area. If you prefer, you can copy/paste content into this area from Notepad.
If you are copying content from Word, a web page, or another programme, we strongly recommend copying the content into Notepad first. Then copy it out of Notepad and into the editor. Why? Because content from many programmes includes hidden formatting code, which may be incompatible with your website, and cause your page to look odd.
Adding a link
To add a link:
- Highlight the text you want to be a link.
- Click the Link icon in the toolbar (it looks like a chain, and will only become visible when text is highlighted)
- A popup window will open. Choose what sort of link you want to create from the pulldown list, then click Next Page within the popup window. Follow the instructions on screen to create your link.
Please note that links will appear within the editor, but won't be clickable until the page is published.
How to add a photo
Please see How to use photos for more help with this.
3: Publishing your page
When you have finished creating content, scroll to the very top of the page and click Save changes.
If you have logged in as a user with publishing rights, you will see options to publish the page. This will make the page live immediately
